On April 8, 2017, the Arts & Sciences Center presented the second annual “Tropical Living Festival” at our Pahoa facility.
Our theme is Community, Culture, and the Environment. The purpose of this festival is to give the community an opportunity to see demonstrations and products that promote stability in our island home.
This year we hosted amazing entertainment, including Bruddah Waltah and the Kalapana Awa Band, and offered many hands-on cultural and educational activities! There was make-and-take ku'i kalo, lau niu weaving, lei making, and lei pupu demonstrations, plus interactive displays by the DLNR Marine Wildlife Program, UHH Marine Science Dept, UHH Anthropod Collection, Korean Natural Farming, Garden To Grinds, Men of Pa'a, Malama O Puna, Green Mountain Fruit Stand, BIISC, Little Fire Ant.org, Pahoa Village Mom Squad, and more!! Plus ono grinds from Halau Te Ha'a Lehua, Aloha Lehua Cafe, Kalama's Kitchen , and Sweet Cane Cafe! Join us next year for the third annual celebration of our island lifestyles.
